Michele Lang has been the Director of Bands at Paredes Middle School since it opened in January 2000. Mrs. Lang was both Assistant and Head Director at Pearce Middle School before coming to Paredes. She received a Bachelor of Music Degree from Moorhead State University and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Arizona, both in Oboe Performance. She also received her certification in Music Education from New Mexico State University.

Mrs. Lang directs the Paredes Wind Ensemble, the Paredes Jazz Band, and assists with Symphonic Band and Concert Band. She also teaches Beginning Woodwinds and Low Brass.

Mrs. Lang is currently a performing member of the Austin Symphonic Band which has been invited to perform at the Midwest International Band Clinic in Chicago this December. She also teaches private lessons in the Austin area and is Music Director at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Austin. She is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, the International Double Reed Society, and Pi Kappa Lambda. Her husband is the new Director of Bands at Bastrop High School in Bastrop Texas. She is the proud mother of five-year-old Nicolas and sixteen-month-old Emily. 

Richard Davis is currently serving as assistant director of Bands at Americo Paredes Middle School, a position he has held since the school opened in January 2000. Prior to coming to Paredes, Mr. Davis taught for one year at Reagan High School and three years at Pearce Middle School.

Before coming to the Austin Independent School District, Mr. Davis taught high school and middle school bands in Quinlan, TX and Commerce, TX, where his bands earned UIL Sweepstakes awards. Mr. Davis grew up in Plano, TX, where he graduated from Plano East Senior High in 1983. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in 1988.

Mr. Davis' professional organizations include Texas Music Educator's Association, Texas Bandmaster's Association, and Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity.

Misty Vanwalleghem comes to Paredes Middle School from Lexington, Texas where she spent four years of her teaching career as a MS Band Director/HS Band Assistant. Previous to that, she spent one year at Groveton ISD as the MS/HS Band Director.  Originally from Canton, TX, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in music education with an emphasis in trumpet from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

Mrs. Vanwalleghem’s professional organizations include Texas Music Educator’s Association and Texas Bandmaster’s Association.
